Updated Engine Options
The 2023 Chevy Silverado 1500 is headlined with a revamped 3.0-liter Duramax turbo-diesel power plant. The improved turbo-diesel now delivers more power and performance than ever before. This is all thanks to enhanced engineering, including a new turbo compressor, fuel injectors, and temperature control. As a result, the 3.0-liter Duramax now outputs 10% more horsepower and delivers 8% more torque than the previous model year's diesel engine. In total, the 3.0-liter Duramax now makes 305 hp and 495 lb-ft of torque and can achieve a max tow rating of 13,300 lbs.
The diesel option is available for a variety of trims, including the Custom Trail Boss, the LT, RST, LT Trail Boss, LTZ, and High Country. In addition to the Duramax, there are also three other powertrain options. The base option is a 2.7-liter High Output Turbo that makes 310 hp and 430 lb-ft of torque. The 2.7-liter is attached to an eight-speed automatic transmission and manages a max tow rating of 9,500 lbs.
The last two powertrains are of the V8 variety. They include a 5.3-liter EcoTec3 V8 that outputs 355 hp and 283 lb-ft of torque, which is attached to a 10-speed automatic transmission. You can achieve a max tow rating of 11,200 lbs with the 5.3-liter V8, giving you plenty of options and versatility when it comes to trailering and payload capacity. Finally, there is the 6.2-liter EcoTec3 V8, which makes an impressive 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque. Like the Duramax, the 6.2-liter V8 is paired with the 10-speed automatic transmission and has a max tow capacity of 13,300 lbs.
