Updated Engine Options

The 2023 Chevy Silverado 1500 is headlined with a revamped 3.0-liter Duramax turbo-diesel power plant. The improved turbo-diesel now delivers more power and performance than ever before. This is all thanks to enhanced engineering, including a new turbo compressor, fuel injectors, and temperature control. As a result, the 3.0-liter Duramax now outputs 10% more horsepower and delivers 8% more torque than the previous model year's diesel engine. In total, the 3.0-liter Duramax now makes 305 hp and 495 lb-ft of torque and can achieve a max tow rating of 13,300 lbs.

The diesel option is available for a variety of trims, including the Custom Trail Boss, the LT, RST, LT Trail Boss, LTZ, and High Country. In addition to the Duramax, there are also three other powertrain options. The base option is a 2.7-liter High Output Turbo that makes 310 hp and 430 lb-ft of torque. The 2.7-liter is attached to an eight-speed automatic transmission and manages a max tow rating of 9,500 lbs.

The last two powertrains are of the V8 variety. They include a 5.3-liter EcoTec3 V8 that outputs 355 hp and 283 lb-ft of torque, which is attached to a 10-speed automatic transmission. You can achieve a max tow rating of 11,200 lbs with the 5.3-liter V8, giving you plenty of options and versatility when it comes to trailering and payload capacity. Finally, there is the 6.2-liter EcoTec3 V8, which makes an impressive 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque. Like the Duramax, the 6.2-liter V8 is paired with the 10-speed automatic transmission and has a max tow capacity of 13,300 lbs.

For performance enthusiasts, there is the Rally Edition, which is available for the Custom and RST trims. The Rally Edition comes with a performance-themed color scheme, large high-gloss wheels, rally stripes, black exhaust tips, and a Chevytec spray-on bedliner.

Alternatively, you can get the Redline Edition for the RST, which features high-gloss black door handles and grille, special black bezels around the headlamps, and black Silverado badging with red outlines. The 20-inch high-gloss black aluminum wheels sport contrasting red accents, and the truck features red recovery hooks and red stripes on the outside mirrors. The Redline Edition also comes with the Protection Package.

If you're more about subdued style for daily driving, the Midnight Edition is the perfect special edition to fulfill that role. The Midnight Edition is clad in a black livery with black headlamp bezels, black recovery hooks, and dual black exhaust tips. Special black badging for the Midnight Edition helps give it a unique flair, along with a matching Jet Black interior. The Midnight Edition is available for the Custom Trail Boss and LT Trail Boss.

Off-Road Upgrades

The Realtree Edition is another performance-themed iteration of the Silverado, but this one is geared toward those who enjoy hunting and fishing. Featuring a special Realtree livery with graphics on the doors, hood, and the side of the bed, you get a unique-looking Silverado with special Realtree flair. The truck comes with black recovery hooks and a Chevytec spray-on bedliner featuring the Realtree logo. Assist steps, interior door trim with Realtree decals, and dual exhaust tips help round out this special edition Silverado.

Finally, there is the ZR2 Bison Edition. This special edition for the 2023 model year was made in collaboration with American Expedition Vehicles (AEV). The ZR2 Bison features 18-inch gloss black aluminum wheels with Goodyear Wrangler Territory mud-terrain tires. The AEV stamped-steel front and rear bumpers come with heavy-duty recovery points, and AEV hot-stamped boron steel skid plates protect the undercarriage. You also get off-road rocker protection, a body-color grille bar, and black vertical recovery hooks. The Multi-Flex Tailgate receives a special unique black finish, while on the interior, you have AEV embroidered head restraints and front and rear floor liners with the AEV logo featured on them.
