2023 Chevy Bolt EUV

The Chevy Bolt EUV is no longer a brand new model as it enters its second year in production. But the Bolt EUV is still a new type of vehicle that combines the spaciousness of the traditional SUV with the economical application of a no-gasoline, all-electric powertrain. Given what the manufacturer learned in that first year, the 2023 Chevy Bolt EUV returns to make going electric even more enticing for today's drivers.

Though electric vehicles have been gaining in popularity due to their sustainable, eco-friendly nature in a world where gas prices seem to be constantly on the rise, there are those who are still a bit wary of what's involved in the process. Are the vehicles safe? What happens if you run out of charge in the middle of nowhere? Can you actually drive long distances in these vehicles? Do you have to find a charging station, or can they be charged at home?

As drivers may have plenty of questions about the not brand new but still relatively new Bolt EUV, read on to learn more about electric driving and whether the 2023 Bolt EUV is the ideal choice for your first electric vehicle. Is the Bolt EUV right for you? Only you can be the judge of that. However, in a world that is rapidly "going electric," the 2023 Chevy Bolt EUV provides a strong, fun-to-drive option for those ready to join in the electric current.

How Does the 2023 Chevy Bolt EUV Drive?

In terms of the technical process through which one operates an electric vehicle like the Bolt EUV, not much has changed from gasoline-operated vehicles--the brake is on the left, and the accelerator is on the right. The battery-powered motor provides 200 hp, which allows for a clean, immediate response to acceleration, which makes the Bolt EUV a zippy and enjoyable choice for navigating crowded city streets or rush hour traffic, inasmuch as we can consider Sacramento traffic "enjoyable." In fact, the Bolt EUV has the ability to zoom from 0 to 60 mph in 7 seconds. A race car it is not, but it makes a nimble companion for exploring the city. Stopping power is also responsive and tight, courtesy of four-wheel antilock disc brakes.

However, if you're interested in using as little energy as possible, you might want to try one-pedal driving. By tapping the Bolt EUV's One Pedal Driving button, drivers can use the accelerator to speed up, slow down, and even stop by adjusting the pressure they place on the pedal. In fact, driving this way may be pretty familiar to those who have logged lots of miles on long, unpredictable stretches of road or those who have done their fair share of off-roading.

New Driving Technologies

Regen on Demand technology is also on board the Bolt EUV. This steering wheel-mounted paddle applies maximum regeneration and allows drivers to slow quickly, sending the recaptured energy back to the battery. Overall, this process improves the vehicle's efficiency and gets more miles of range per charge.

Those who select the Premier trim also have the option of adding Chevy's Super Cruise technology to their vehicle. With over 200,000 miles of US and Canadian highways mapped, this system allows for hands-free driving as long as the driver continues to pay attention to the road. Cameras and radar sensors make sure that's the case.

All in all, the Chevy Bolt EUV provides a quiet, comfortable ride, thanks to smooth acceleration and braking. Chevy has also provided the EUV with a

How Far Can I Drive in a 2023 Chevy Bolt EUV?

All told, the Bolt EUV has an estimated range of 247 miles. This may not seem like a lot at first glance, but it's enough to get from Sacramento to San Francisco and back again. Additionally, battery life information is prominently displayed in the cabin. The 8-inch driver information display provides real-time efficiency information to allow drivers to gauge their battery usage and make changes in driving behavior as needed.

The Bolt EUV is not a one-use vehicle. Just as you have to stop at a fuel station to add gasoline to a vehicle with an engine, the Bolt needs to refuel as well. But instead of filling a tank with expensive gasoline, the Bolt just needs a cord and an electric outlet.

Types of Charging

The cord is included and offers changeable plugs for Level 1 (120V) and Level 2 (240V) charging. Level 1 charging is essentially the same process as charging your phone or laptop--you plug the cord into the Bolt EUV and the socket, and it starts charging. This is not the fastest method for charging your Bolt EUV--in fact, it provides about 4 miles of driving per hour of charge--but it's fine for times when you'll likely be plugged in for several hours such as overnight.

Level 2 charging is much faster, allowing drivers to gain a full charge in around seven hours. Additional equipment is required in order to access Level 2 charging at home; however, Chevy has partnered with Qmerit to make it possible for Bolt EUV owners to have this equipment installed at their homes. Finally, drivers who are frequently on the road can connect the Bolt EUV to over 40,000 public DC fast-charge stations in order to juice up on the go at an even faster rate than Level 2 charging.

Is the 2023 Chevy Bolt EUV Cool?

"Cool" is a subjective term, but most drivers would agree that the Chevy Bolt EUV is pretty cool. It's practical, well-designed, and loaded with comfort and convenience features to take the driving experience up another notch.

The 2023 Bolt EUV is offered in two trims: LT and Premier. The standard offerings on the LT trim are very accommodating. From the 10.2-inch touchscreen HD color infotainment center with Bluetooth and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity to the 60/40 split-fold rear seat that opens the cabin to provide up to 56.9 cubic feet of cargo space, the details of the Bolt EUV are designed with everyone's comfort and convenience in mind. The rear seat offers exceptional leg room, allowing it to accommodate two adults. The rear passengers also get their own air vents and USB charging port.

The Premier version unlocks several handy features, including power-adjustable soft leather-appointed seating, ambient door lighting, HD Surround Vision that allows drivers to view their vehicle from a bird's-eye perspective, and the aforementioned SuperCruise. Bolt EUV Premier drivers can also select from some seriously impressive upgrades, including a premium Bose audio system, navigation, and an illuminated charge port that provides charge status.

Assistance on the Road

And while driver assistance features may not be considered "cool," they certainly are helpful in keeping drivers, passengers, and pedestrians safe. To answer the questions posed at the beginning, yes, the 2023 Chevy Bolt EUV is safe. In fact, with the Chevy Safety Assist package as standard fare, it might be one of the safest EVs on the road. Each Bolt EUV LT and Premier includes the Chevy Safety Assist package as standard equipment. This package includes top-shelf safety technology, such as Automatic Emergency Braking, Following Distance Indicator, Forward Collision Alert with Front Pedestrian Braking, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, and IntelliBeam automatic high beams.
