2023 Chevy Blazer

From sharp style to impressive performance and a comfortable interior, the 2023 Chevy Blazer has plenty to love. Its versatility makes it a great choice for drivers who use their car for a wide variety of activities. The Blazer is nice enough to impress carpooling coworkers, it has enough space to fit plenty of people and luggage on airport runs, and when properly equipped, it's rugged enough to handle rough terrain and go off-road.

Trim levels range from the affordable 2LT to the luxurious and highly capable Premier, with the 3LT and RS giving you the best of both worlds in the middle. All of these trims have available AWD, so you can stick with the more affordable and fuel-efficient FWD or upgrade for increased traction, which can come in handy on slippery roads. No matter which one you choose, you'll get plenty of bang for your buck, with useful standard tech ranging from infotainment to safety features.

Performance

Blazing Engines

Blazer drivers have two different engines to choose from. The 2.0L turbo I-4 comes standard on the 2LT, 3LT, and Premier trims and offers 228 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. The 3.6L V6, which brings you up to 308 hp and 270 lb-ft of torque, comes standard on the RS and is an available upgrade for the 3LT and Premier. While the turbo I-4 is powerful enough to accommodate all-wheel drive, the V6 gives you quicker acceleration and increases the maximum towing capacity to an impressive 4,500 lbs when the car is properly equipped. Both engines pair with a 9-speed automatic transmission.

Versatile Capabilities

The available Driver Mode Selector lets you adjust the Blazer's settings to match your situation with the simple turn of a knob. For example, if you opt for a trim with AWD, you can set your car to Tour (2WD) mode while you're cruising down a dry road where you don't need the extra traction in order to improve fuel economy and save money on gas. An available Off-Road mode, on the other hand, optimizes the throttle and traction control systems so you can tackle rough terrain, whether you're camping at a national park or exploring the California desert.

Sport mode emphasizes the fun-to-drive nature of this SUV, giving the performance an extra boost in case you're looking for a little excitement. Then again, sometimes it's better to play it safe, like when winter comes around, and the roads get slippery. Luckily, Snow/Ice mode on FWD models provides better grip during dangerous weather conditions, decreasing your risk of skidding out. If your Blazer is set up with the trailering package, there's also a Tow/Haul mode that distributes extra force and balance so that you stay in control even when you're towing a heavy load at high speeds.

Technology

A Sleek Model With Sleek Tech

Across all trim levels, a 10.2-inch touchscreen comes standard, which is a step up from the 8-inch screen in the 2022 Blazer. This allows you to control navigation, audio, vehicle settings, and more with an easy-to-use interface. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are both compatible, so hooking your smartphone up to your car is simple. You can also use your smartphone to control your Blazer remotely with the myChevrolet app, which lets you check your fuel level and tire pressure, lock and unlock the doors, and even remotely start the vehicle to let it warm up or cool down before you get inside.

Beyond standard features, available technology includes a wi-fi hotspot that makes it easy to access the Internet on the go. In addition to the USB ports on the front and back of the center console, some trims offer a wireless charging pad that lets you power your devices without getting tangled up in cables. Audiophiles can also upgrade to an eight-speaker Bose audio system.

A High-Tech Exterior

While most of the technology can be found inside, the exterior has gotten an important upgrade as well. LED headlamps are now standard on all Blazers, so you should be able to see the road well, no matter how dark it gets. The tail lamps are LED, too, making them easily visible to traffic behind you, even in less-than-ideal weather conditions.

Adaptive cruise control is an available feature that can come in handy on long stretches of highway driving. While regular cruise control just keeps the car moving at a consistent speed, adaptive cruise control can slow down or speed back up to match the car in front of it. This way, you always have a good following distance between you and the car in front of you, and you don't have to hit the brakes and reset the cruise control every time there's a slight change in the speed of traffic.

Design

New for 2023

For the 2023 model year, Chevy redesigned the front of the Blazer, giving its grille and lighting a new look that stands out in a crowd and tells the world that this SUV is sporty and ready for action. It's also available in three new colors: radiant red, sterling gray, and copper bronze. Beyond the body, the Blazer also sports a newly designed set of wheels with an intricate geometric pattern.

Special Editions

If you want to take your style game to the next level, there are two special edition Blazers that are designed with a cohesive look in mind. The Midnight/Sport Edition is all black, from its body paint to its wheels to the grille bar, nameplate, and even the Chevy bowtie emblems. This dark and glossy style is available on the 2LT and 3LT trims.

The Redline Edition has many of the same black details, but instead of blending into the body color, they contrast it nicely. The bowtie logos, grille, mirrors, and door handles are all basic black. However, the nameplates have a red outline, and the black-painted aluminum wheels have red accents, throwing a dash of color into these dark details. Like the Midnight Edition, the Redline Edition is available on the 2LT and 3LT.

Interior Style

The outside of the car may be what makes an impression on passersby, but if you want to impress your passengers, you'll need an interior that makes a statement too. Since it's inspired by the iconic Chevy Camaro, the Blazer's interior reflects its sporty personality. Round air vents provide a unique look, and they're functional, too, since you can twist them to adjust the temperature settings. A two-toned color scheme draws the eye in by accenting different elements. On the upper-level trims, you get leather surfaces and other material upgrades to create a classier look.

Safety

Alerts & Warnings

The Blazer comes standard with plenty of different warnings that are designed to help drivers stay safe and attentive while on the road. Forward Collision Alert lets you know when you're getting too close to the car in front of you so you can take action before you hit it. Lane Departure Warning lets you know if you're drifting outside the lines of your lane. If you're drifting out of your lane without realizing it, it may be a sign that you're getting tired and need to pull over and get some rest.

Automatic Functions

While alerts let the driver know when to take action, there are some systems where the car takes action on its own under certain circumstances. Automatic Emergency Braking and Front Pedestrian Braking apply the brakes if the system senses that you're about to hit another car or a person crossing the street. It can also enhance the manual braking in these situations, prioritizing bringing the vehicle to a stop as quickly as possible. Lane Keep Assist works to keep you from drifting out of your lane by gently nudging the steering to get you back where you should be.

IntelliBeam Auto High Beams come in handy when driving at night. When you turn on your brights, the system activates. If it senses the headlights of a car coming toward you, the taillights of a car in front of you, or enough ambient light that the brights are no longer necessary, it turns them off for you. This way, you don't have to worry about blinding other drivers, and you also don't have to get distracted by constantly turning your brights off and on. Instead, you can just focus on the road ahead of you.

Other Safety Features

The Blazer also comes standard with a rear vision camera that makes it easy to see where you're going when you're backing into a parking space. The Teen Driver technology can help parents teach their young ones how to drive by allowing them to set limits and alerts and giving them a digital report card at the end of a driving session. The Following Distance Indicator uses data from the front camera to measure, in seconds, how much following distance you have between you and the car in front of you, so you know how much time you have to react in case of a sudden stop.
